Sustaining the Family Table

History

Thanks to a grant from United Way, we can offer our clients a program with easy access to services that can help them overcome their barriers to employment.  The program began in 2015 and had been fully funded by the United Way since that time.  The collaborative provides training and skills to obtain employment or improve their employment status.  Wrap around services of medical care and food distribution is also provided so that the client can focus on improving the financial security of their families.

We are so excited to be able to have continuously been able provide this service to our clients since its inception.  For years CPO has wanted to help our clients with more than groceries and clothing.  Finally the we had the opportunity to make this a reality!

News

In 2021, CPO was awarded 2-year grant extension to continue the work of this collaborative.  This program has been a successful model of the United Way’s grants!

Due to the pandemic the program has been working remotely via zoom to continue it’s important mission.  Job losses due to the pandemic has made this program even more critical to our clients to improve their employment status and quality of life!

Success

Johana, who had been receiving food from CPO, was introduced to the collaborative and is a now a graduate  of the program. Johanna utilized the services for herself and her boys while undertaking a huge step toward  independence. The consistency and the support of the collaborative has enabled Johanna to now be a full time employee

Jay, a struggling mother of 4, had lost her employment due to the pandemic and completed a three-day orientation with one of our United Way Collaborative “Sustaining the Family Table” partners, StepUp Ministry. After completion, she had an interview and was able to not only land a job, but an even better job for herself, and was able to get food for her family as well!
