Hundreds ‘pitch in’ at Durham Bulls

More than 300 supporters of Catholic Charities gathered at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park Friday, July 27 for Pitch in for Charity. Fans enjoyed pre-game food trucks and post-game fireworks, as well as a Durham Bulls – Syracuse Chiefs game that came down to the final out. New Partnership in Pitt County Extends Disaster Services

When Hurricane Matthew first impacted central and eastern North Carolina, hundreds of families were forced from their homes. Today, too many families still struggle to find safe and stable housing. Catholic Parish Outreach director retires

Terry Foley, director of Catholic Parish Outreach food pantry in Raleigh, is set to retire from that role at the end of June. Foley served as director for 14 years and, although she is stepping down, she intends to stick around. “I am planning to take the month of July off,” Foley explained. “Then I hope to get out and volunteer throughout the community, including at Catholic Parish Outreach and the new Catholic Charities Durham Community Food Pantry.” Foley saw many changes during her time at CPO. On a beautiful afternoon on Monday, June 11th, 176 golfers from across eastern North Carolina gathered at North Ridge Country Club in Raleigh for the inaugural Catholic Charities Drive Out Hunger Golf Outing. Oak City Outreach Center volunteer secures donation from RTI International

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Nancy Weishaupt volunteers at the Oak City Outreach Center with her husband Jason, and their 11-year-old daughter Kylie. Their 13-year-old son is another regular volunteer with the family, but had other obligations on this day. The final member of the family of five, their nineteen-year-old daughter Sydney, was at home preparing dinner.
