On October 8, 2016, Hurricane Matthew impacted much of eastern North Carolina. For days, an unprecedented amount of rain fell, with up to 16 inches falling in many areas, setting state records. On September 14th, Catholic Charities, with the help of local community leaders, hosted a Mobile Distribution event in Bolton, NC. Catholic Charities gave out diapers, hygiene products, and food to those in need.
