In the summer of 2023, the residents of a local senior living complex found themselves in a dangerous situation when their elevator began to malfunction. This left a number of elderly individuals partially stranded in their apartments, making it difficult to access vital necessities and support.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Catholic Charities of the Cape Fear Region quickly mobilized resources and volunteers to provide relief to the residents. Along with delivering healthy groceries, our team offered much needed companionship. Catholic Charities worked to ensure no resident felt forgotten or neglected during a challenging time.

As the weeks passed, our commitment to the residents and their well-being continued to grow. Once the elevator was repaired, we continued to offer our services as we strengthened their sense of community.

However, our work is far from over. As we look to the future, we recognize the importance of sustaining our efforts to ensure the wellbeing of these seniors, and others in our community, remains a top priority.
