Wilmington Office Expands Partnership with St. Mary’s Tileston Outreach for August

As an expansion of their partnership, Catholic Charities will operate a food pantry during the month of August while the St. Mary’s Tileston Outreach temporarily closes. Families will be able to receive food from the Catholic Charities location at the Harrelson Center on 4th Street in Wilmington from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Cans for Charity raises more than 3OO food items for Catholic Charities

It was a balmy evening on Friday, July 29th for the Catholic Charities Cans for Charity event with the Carolina Mudcats.  This was the second game of the two part “Pitch in for Charity” series that Catholic Charities organized over the summer. Over one hundred fans came out to watch the Carolina Mudcats take on the Potomac Nationals. More than 300 canned goods were collected and the Mudcats made an additional donation of $100 to Catholic Charities. Triangle Flooding Response

Severe storms, which delivered excessive rainfall in parts of Wake and Durham Counties in mid-July caused flash floods that forced more than a hundred families out of their homes. In response to the flooding, the American Red Cross opened a shelter for four days at Hillside High School in Durham, to assist families with lodging and food. Red Cross has since led the community’s efforts to assist more than 220 individuals in recovering from the flooding aftermath.
