What You’ll Do

As the AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator, you will help Catholic Charities build a volunteer program that can grow and serve the Cape Fear Region for years to come. Your work will include:

  • Connecting people with opportunities to serve by developing outreach strategies and building relationships with faith communities, civic groups, colleges, businesses, and other community partners.
  • Making it easier to become a volunteer by improving how volunteers learn about opportunities, register, receive information, complete training, and connect with the right role.
  • Building tools and resources for volunteers and staff, including guides, training materials, role descriptions, communication resources, and processes that can be used long after your service is complete.
  • Strengthening volunteer engagement by developing ways to recognize volunteers, gather feedback, understand their experience, and encourage continued involvement.
  • Preparing volunteers to respond when communities need them most by helping coordinate training and creating systems to track volunteers prepared to serve during disasters and other emergencies.
  • Measuring our progress by helping Catholic Charities better understand volunteer participation, training, retention, and community partnerships.
