¡Salud para Todos!: A Public Health Partnership

Catholic Charities works every day to ease the burdens of poverty. Through the close collaboration between food pantries, case management, and partner organizations, our staff and volunteers work every day to fulfill our mission of reducing poverty. This combination is critical because no single step can resolve the deeper challenges faced by individuals living with undiagnosed chronic illness or ongoing health concerns.

That is why Centro para Familias Hispanas (CpFH) is proud of its partnership with Catholic Parish Outreach Food Pantry and WakeMed’s Mobile Health Clinic. Twice a month, the WakeMed Mobile Clinic unit operates in the parking lot of Catholic Parish Outreach Food Pantry (CPO) and CpFH, which are collocated in the same facility. This partnership brings together healthy food, supportive case management, and access to medical professionals. For many of our neighbors, especially those facing language barriers or gaps in insurance, this collaboration represents more than convenience. It is a trusted, welcoming doorway to the care they deserve.

“I was incredibly excited by this opportunity when we first began discussing this partnership with WakeMed,” shared Maty Ferrer Hoppmann, Program Director for CpFH. “We are always looking for ways to have a bigger impact for the families we serve and this mobile clinic does that.”

The WakeMed Mobile Health Clinic comes on the first and third Monday of every month. While families visit CPO and CpFH for their basic case management needs and healthy groceries, they have the opportunity to also receive basic health assessments through WakeMed’s mobile team. This collaboration ensures that individuals who might otherwise go without care can access screenings, guidance, all without needing to make an extra trip. This partnership reflects the heart of the Catholic Charities vision: collaborating to provide help and create hope for the most vulnerable in our community.

“These partnerships remind us that when local institutions come together with shared purpose, we create pathways to dignity, stability, and hope,” shared Ferrer Hoppmann. “We are grateful for every partner who helps us build a healthier, stronger community.”
