Catholic Charities Provides Relief to Families in Alamance County Following Recent Flooding

On Friday, July 11, Catholic Charities staff and volunteers hosted a disaster response distribution event at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Graham, NC. Over the course of the afternoon, 30 families, representing more than 150 individuals, received essential supplies and support to help them recover from recent flooding in the area.

Families were welcomed between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. and participated in a brief intake interview to share how they had been impacted. This information will guide Catholic Charities staff in providing continued assistance tailored to each family’s needs as recovery efforts move forward.

During the event, families received food, hygiene kits, feminine care kits, and diapers. Many of these items were prepositioned in the Wilmington office by our partners at Food for the Poor and shipped to the Piedmont region to support this response.

Catholic Charities will continue to monitor the situation in Alamance County and coordinate resources to help families recover.
