Blessing Event Marks Launch of Savor Food Truck

Catholic Charities welcomed current and former board members and key donors on November 19, 2025, for a special gathering to bless and launch Savor, the new social enterprise created to strengthen funding for mobile food pantry services throughout central and eastern North Carolina.

The evening began with a special blessing from the Very Reverend Michael Burbeck, Vicar General of the Diocese of Raleigh and a scripture reading by Board Member Melissa Yeazel that set a calm and thoughtful tone for the evening.

Jim Baker, Co-Chair of the Nourishing Our Neighbors Campaign, spoke about the long history of prominent Catholics leading innovative change through scientific breakthroughs and discoveries. He shared how Savor will continue this rich tradition of innovation by creating sustainable funding to expand mobile food pantry efforts at Catholic Charities and fight food insecurity.

Jackie Adams, General Manager of Savor, painted a picture of what to expect from the Savor food truck over the coming months. She provided examples of the food truck engage with the community, including attending community and corporate events. She also highlighted the importance of strong community partnerships, especially with the St. Francis parish and school for providing a home kitchen and ongoing support. She noted that volunteers and donated ingredients will help keep costs low leading to an important impact on mobile food pantry services. Her standout message quickly became the theme of the night: “Savor is where every purchase is filled with purpose.”

CEO, Lisa Perkins, concluded the program by recognizing the many people who helped bring Savor to life. She thanked the campaign team, the Savor staff, and supporters whose guidance and generosity made the launch possible. She also shared the larger vision, which includes introducing new audiences to the work of Catholic Charities and expanding healthy food programs such as gardening projects and virtual cooking classes.

Guests enjoyed samples from the Savor menu and toured the newly blessed truck. The evening was both a celebration and the start of a new chapter built on creativity, sustainability, and a shared commitment to providing help and creating hope for neighbors in need.
