Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh is highlighting our continued volunteer and community initiatives in Central and Eastern North Carolina as we enter Phase 2 of the Catholic Charities USA We Are There national awareness campaign. The campaign celebrates the life-giving services Catholic Charities agencies provide across the country. This initiative brings attention to the transformative work of Catholic Charities in communities nationwide, showing how we offer support and hope to those facing challenges.

In Phase 1 of the campaign, Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), the national membership organization for Catholic Charities agencies, shared the campaign through its distribution platform of 30,000 news desks nationwide. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh sent press releases to our local and regional media partners, shared the information on social media platforms, and emailed our community supporters reinforcing the work of CCUSA and the vital services we provide here at home in North Carolina.

In Phase 2, we continue to shine a light on our volunteers and client successes that tell the true story of providing help and creating hope for people in our most vulnerable communities when they need it most. Whether responding after disasters, providing food for families through our traditional and mobile food pantries, or aiding with immigration services… We Are There.

“We are proud to join the We Are There campaign, uniting with Catholic Charities agencies nationwide to raise awareness about the vital services we offer in our communities,” said Lisa Perkins, CEO of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh. “This campaign amplifies our commitment to supporting those in need with compassion and dedication, demonstrating that when there is hardship, we are there to provide help and create hope.”

A Legacy of Service

Since 1899, when the first Catholic orphanage began in Raleigh, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh has been dedicated to serving families in North Carolina. Today, the agency has expanded its reach, adapting to meet the evolving needs of the community. Offering services to all, regardless of faith, Catholic Charities provides critical support through partnerships with local organizations to ensure that the most vulnerable are respected and cared for.

Operating from 11 service sites, Catholic Charities serves families across 54 counties in Central and Eastern North Carolina. Last year alone, we helped nearly 200,000 people through Disaster Services, Food Pantry Services, and Immigration Legal Services.

“We are immensely proud of the impact Catholic Charities has on the communities we serve,” Perkins added. “The number of people helped last year is a testament to the tireless efforts of our team. We are dedicated to expanding our reach and deepening our support in Central and Eastern North Carolina.”

Part of a National Network

Dedicated staff and more than 215,000 volunteers nationwide make the critical work possible.

“In every corner of the country, wherever people are suffering, a local Catholic Charities agency is there. The We Are There campaign highlights this profound commitment to bring comfort, relief and mercy to the most vulnerable among us, regardless of their faith,” CCUSA President

and CEO Kerry Alys Robinson said. “We invite all people of good will to join us in serving and accompanying our neighbors in need.”

Each agency tailors its services to meet the specific needs of its local communities, ensuring that vulnerable individuals and families receive the care and support they need.
